Apple Airpods Pro
The Apple AirPods Pro might not be the latest earbuds from Apple, but they’re still the best-sounding earbuds from Apple. That’s because, unlike the newer Apple AirPods 3, they deliver active noise cancellation. They also have an improved design compared to the original AirPods. They’re still the best Apple headphones you can buy today and they also make our list of the best earbuds generally – especially if you already own a lot of Apple products as they’ll work well with them. The Apple AirPods Pro have recently become even better. A number of new upgrades have arrived for the earbuds following the iOS 15 update in September 2021. These upgrades include Conversation Boost, which is designed to help you hear face-to-face conversations more clearly when you have the earbuds in your ears, as well as the ability to announce notifications with Siri, and integration with Apple's Find My app. There’s a lot to love about the Apple AirPods Pro but the price is going to be a barrier for many people. At $249 / £249 / AU$399, they’re expensive. For that reason, we can’t call them the very best wireless headphones available right now, even if they come close. A rumored entry-level version of these same Apple earbuds – possibly called the AirPods Pro 2 – could change this in the future. But for now, they’re very pricey. But if you’re an iPhone user on the lookout for well-fitting wireless earbuds with excellent sound quality, these are a good choice. The redesign of the AirPods Pro mean they’re far less likely to fall out than their predecessors, and the additional microphones that have been built-in to the Pro version now provide strong noise cancellation too (particularly when commuting), as well as a useful Transparency mode, which allows you to hear the outside world to the perfect degree. But although the fit might be better than the original AirPods, you’ll need to get used to controlling them with the capacitive, touch-sensitive ridge that you’ll find on each stem. However, we did find that this can take some getting used to, but it’s a cool way to quickly activate noise cancellation and skip tracks once it becomes second nature. There’s so much ‘Apple-ness’ that runs through the AirPods Pro. From the initial setup, where the true wireless earbuds scan your ears to check they’re the right fit, through to the fact there’s a small air vent to make putting them in or removing them a more comfortable experience. In short, fans of the Apple ethos, clean design and exceptionally user-friendly design experience will be overjoyed with their purchase here. If you want some of the best headphones Apple has made, the AirPods Pro are the culmination of many years’ work into a strong audio product. There are better true wireless earbuds out there, but for Apple fans and iPhone users (with the means to afford them) they’re a great choice.
